Phil Hyde, who took the helm at Hayes in July 2024, began his career with Fayette County Public Schools as a math instructor at Hayes -- teaching here from 2012 to 2017 and again from 2019 to 2022. He also taught at Crawford Middle and Shelby County High School. From 2019 to 2022, Hyde took on additional leadership roles at Hayes as the MTSS behavior instructor and Math Department chair. In 2022, he moved to Bryan Station Middle, serving as administrative dean and then assistant principal. There, he was instrumental in instructional coaching and implementing PBIS initiatives.
Hyde is known as a servant leader with proven experience at making significant progress with academics, culture, and climate. He consistently demonstrates highly effective skills in developing meaningful relationships with students, faculty, and families. The desired attributes for a new school principal at Hayes, based on stakeholder input, were discipline, student achievement, and culture and climate. Hyde is prepared to deliver upon these leadership expectations.
Hyde earned his bachelor’s in education from the University of Kentucky and holds two master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University – in Instructional Leadership and Educational Specialist studies. He also earned his Rank I and principal certification at EKU.
Our schools are closed Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. Students return to class on Monday, Oct. 7.
