Mr. Hoskins has served as the principal of Edythe J. Hayes Middle School since 2012. From 2006-12, he was the school's second associate principal, and prior to that assignment, was a member of the inaugural staff in 2004. Mr. Hoskins was the school's first head football coach, and a member of the eighth grade Tiger team as its language arts teacher.
During his tenure as associate principal, the school reduced its discipline rate in one year by over 50%, and led the district with the lowest discipline numbers. In addition, he began the WEB program for sixth graders, and helped develop many student incentive programs.
As principal, the school was rated a proficient school by the state, and regularly posts one of the highest growth scores in the district. In 2013, he helped lead the school in the redesign of its Accelerated Learning Program, which has seen record numbers of distinguished students in the school's history. In 2017, the school posted the district's highest score amongst students considered in the achievement gap.
In 2019, 2021, and 2022, EJH was ranked as the highest performing middle school in Fayette Co. and ranked 14 in the state, based on KPREP/KSA state testing results.
Mr. Hoskins serves on the Eastern Kentucky University College of Education Advisory Committee, has been chairman of the Juvenile Restorative Justice Board of Directors, and has served on school audit and accreditation teams with Cognia.
