Course Sequence Goal
- 6th grade students will leave the class with a resume/ portfolio of theatrical experience, and scene writings.
- 7th grade students will continue the resume/portfolio adding more experience, scripts, makeup and scene designs.
- 8th grade students will complete their middle school resume/portfolio adding more experience to previous content.
- Students may qualify for induction into the International Thespian Society (a theatre honorary).
Sixth Grade Course Description: Introduction to Theatre
Course Description
Students will be introduced to and explore the elements of drama in creating and performing dramatic works with others. Students will observe, describe, and apply creative dramatics (improvisation, pantomime, role playing) in a variety of situations.

Seventh Grade Course Description: Theatre Arts
Course Description
Students will continue to build on skills introduced in previous Introduction to Theatre class. They will use the elements of drama in creating and performing dramatic works independently and with others. Students will observe, describe, and apply creative dramatics (improvisation, pantomime, role playing) in a variety of situations. Students will identify and describe how technical elements (staging, scenery, props, costumes, make-up , lighting, sound)and performance elements (acting, speaking, non-verbal gestures)create mood and believable characters.

Eighth Grade Course Description: Advanced Theatre
Course Description
Students will use the elements of drama in creating and performing dramatic works independently and with others. Students will observe, describe, and apply creative dramatics (improvisation, pantomime, role playing) in a variety of situations. Students will incorporate technical elements (staging, scenery, props, costumes, make-up , lighting, sound) and performance elements (acting, speaking, non-verbal gestures)into their performances.
