MAP assessments are an essential tool that help us measure each student's academic progress in reading and math. These tests adapt to each student's level, providing us with valuable data to ensure that we are meeting their unique educational needs. The results also give us a projection of how students are likely to perform on the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) in the spring.
Schoolwide Results
Reading: 64.6% of our students are projected to score at the proficient and distinguished levels on the KSA Reading assessment in the spring. Our goal, as outlined in our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), is to increase this number to 72% by May 2025.
Math: 68.46% of our students are projected to score proficient and distinguished on the KSA Math assessment, the highest projected proficiency for our school since 2017! We had set a CSIP goal of 67% by May 2025, and since we have already exceeded that goal, we are raising the bar with an internal goal of 71% by May 2025.
We are thrilled to report that we are starting from a stronger position than last year, with more students projected to score proficient or distinguished in both math and reading. In addition, the average RIT scores in reading and math across all three grade levels are above both the national and district averages. Our students also exceeded the expected growth from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024.
Addressing Achievement Gaps
Despite this positive progress, we continue to observe achievement gaps among our Hispanic, African American, special education, and English Learner (EL) populations in both math and reading. We are committed to closing these gaps through targeted instruction and support.
Our approach is rooted in the Continuous Classroom Improvement (CCI) learning systems. This method focuses on aligning standards, instructional strategies, assessment data, and student feedback to ensure we are intentional in driving student success. Our teachers will use students' individual MAP results, alongside weekly formative assessments and unit assessments, to provide tailored instruction that meets the needs of each student.
We are excited about the growth we are seeing, and we look forward to continuing this upward trend.
Our schools are closed Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. Students return to class on Monday, Oct. 7.
