Board Buzz: Bradford Affirmed as Interim Superintendent
The Fayette County Board of Education took several actions during its Aug. 17 meeting related to district leadership. The board voted unanimously to accept Superintendent Demetrus Liggins’ retirement, effective immediately, and will form a superintendent screening committee to guide the selection of the district’s next leader. The board also voted to name Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) Assistant Superintendent Bill Bradford as interim superintendent. He had already been serving as acting superintendent since June 10.
FCPS will share additional information about the superintendent search process as it becomes available.
“As we begin this new school year, the board remains focused on what matters most: supporting students, strengthening schools, and moving forward with care and purpose,” said Chair Tyler Murphy. “We know this has been a difficult time for the FCPS community, and we are committed to providing steady leadership for our students, families, and staff.”
