About the 7th Grade Leadership Program
Through the 7th grade leadership program, student learn to develop their leadership skills through school-based community service for Edythe J. Hayes and 7th grade specific needs. This is a great opportunity for students who would like to be WEB leaders in 8th grade, so that they can hone in on the skills that it takes to make a positive impact. Students who meet the listed criteria below, have the time to devote to the leadership team, and who have a positive, coachable attitude should apply. Ms. Goforth and Ms. More will discuss the program with 7th graders at the beginning of each year and open it for applications each Fall.
Requirements:
- Students must have a 2.5 GPA.
- Students must maintain an EoS percentage of 98%
- Students must not be truant (no more than 6 unexcused absences).
- Students must not have any suspensions.
- Students must be available during summer training dates.
- Students must be available after school on Thursdays to complete tasks.
Students will:

Learn to give tours of the building to new students and their guardians.

Become trained to help other students open their lockers

Create bulletin boards for 7th grade common areas

Assist with the panther store

Reach out to local businesses for donations

Clean the grounds (pick up trash, plant flowers etc)

Conduct checks for graffiti

Complete tasks for teachers (cutting out laminated items, cleaning desks, etc.)

Put together and deliver birthday bags for 7th grade students

Working with students from local elementary schools

Connect with other students for feedback to improve the 7th grade experience

Document their work through pictures, presentations, and summaries to the PTSA and SBDM

Assist with content for the 7th grade newsletter
Meeting times:
After school on Thursdays until 5:00 p.m.
